My yoga journey began here in las Vegas, NV at age 21. I was overwhelmed by the big city and searching for serenity anywhere and everywhere. I was a full time student and I was bartending to support myself, so my schedule was full and my mind full of clutter and distractions. Yoga came into my life during this time, at first it was a way to exercise, a chore even. However, after a few weeks and some research about yoga, I immediately feel in love with the science and philosophy.
I quickly realized that yoga was much more than exercise, it was a lifestyle and a mind set. I began to practice asanas daily and began to study the philosophy and styles of yoga more in depth. I studied Expressive Yoga. This is a fluid, slow moving meditation , “serpentine flow”, smooth style of yoga. It allows you to emerge yourself into your body and listen to its needs. It opens your heart to creativity, compassion, love, truth, and awareness. I love and appreciate this dance type of movement, I choose to study and teach this style because of my love for it and because it has changed my life in positives ways. I wanted to share this experience with others and help them heal their own bodies by just taking time and listening. I also studied Vinyasa Flow yoga and enjoy the fast pace and the flow of asana to asana of this style.
After a few years of practice, I have developed a solid practice and yearned for more. I emerged myself into the yoga scene here in Las Vegas and yearned for a life full of yoga and its community. After completion of my college education, obtaining a Bachelors of Applied science in Psychology, and eventually finishing a Master’s program in family counseling, I knew I could use Yoga as a way to help others heal. My dream is to complete a yoga therapy program and use safe and natural ways to help heal and overcome any physiological issue one may obtain. Presently I am enrolled in an Ayurveda and Yoga heath practitioner program and look forward to healing others using natural herbal medicine and original yoga sequences.
